Every founder we talk to who has "no marketing budget" already has a compounding asset they underuse: a website with traffic. Here is the honest, no-ads playbook.
The mental shift
Paid ads are a great way to buy strangers. But strangers already show up on your site — from search, from LinkedIn posts, from a mention in someone's newsletter. The question isn't "how do I get more strangers?" It's "how do I recognise the ones already here?"
What your site already knows today
- Which pages people land on first (that's your real homepage).
- Which pages they linger on (that's your real product page).
- Which pages they leave from (that's your real friction).
- With visitor identification: which companies did all of the above.
A budget-free plan for the next 14 days
| Day | Action | Cost |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Turn on company-level visitor tracking | €0 (free trial) |
| 3 | Save a filter: companies from your target countries | 0 min |
| 7 | Screenshot the top 10 identified companies | 5 min |
| 10 | Send 3 handwritten outbounds referencing behaviour | 30 min |
| 14 | Review who replied and why | 15 min |
Volume is not the point
This is not a growth-hacking playbook. It's a 3-conversations-a-week playbook. For most small B2B teams, that's exactly what changes the quarter.
What to say when you reach out
Short. Human. Grounded in the visit, without being creepy. "Saw {Company} matches the businesses we help with {problem}. Rather than a demo, I'd send a one-pager first — worth a look?" That's it.
This isn't cold outreach. It's warm-because-they-visited outreach. The reply rate difference is not subtle.
When do you actually need ads?
When your website converts visits reliably and you've run out of organic traffic to convert. Ads amplify a working funnel. They don't build one. If you skip the organic step, you'll pay to send strangers into a leaky bucket.
